About
Hi there! My name is Alyssa and in November of 2018, my husband, Jake, and I, had our first baby. For months, I prepared for the arrival of our son and between the research I had done and the birth team I created, I figured I could manage to create the birthing experience I wanted. Mamas, labor is hard!
I didn’t realize the benefits of having a doula in the birthing rooms until AFTER I gave birth (bummer!) and since then, I have set out to assist people in their own birth experience. Yes, birth is hard, but it is also the most rewarding and transformational experience someone will ever go through. I want to help teach moms advocacy in their birth space, help comfort them and their partners, and create a better birth experience.
It used to be (and still is in many other cultures), that women would rally around the birthing person and assist them in the birth experience. Not only would the mother receive continuous care throughout labor, she would receive continuous care from multiple people. Doulas help bridge the gap between medical staff and the safe space of the birthing room; we are trained professionals who are by your side throughout labor, no matter how long or short it may be.

Doulas are educated in the process of birth: supporting the birthing person through the pain of labor, various labor positions to assist the baby in dropping down in to the birth canal, encouraging communication with the medical staff, assuring the mother and partner throughout the whole process, helping the partner play an active role in the birth experience, and much more.
I work hard to ensure that people from all backgrounds and walks of life feel safe in their birthing space and believe that LGBTQ+ families deserve love and support in pregnancy, labor, and beyond. In every birth, my goal is to create an environment where the mother feels in control of her own birthing experience and to help set her up for success so when the baby arrives, the parents can feel the elation of the eternal bond between themselves and their brand new baby.
